Ed Gibbons

About:

Ed Gibbons joins Sporting AC as the 2016 boys black head coach. Coach Gibbons has been involved in education and soccer for the past 23 years working with a variety of players on the competitive youth club level and high school soccer. He currently teaches and coaches at Brandywine HS and coaches both the girls and boys zone 1 players at Sporting Soccer Club.

Mr. Flanigan has experience scouting and coaching for the Philadelphia Union Academy.

Mr. Flanigan earned a Bachelors of Arts focused in Health & Nursing from the University of Delaware. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation “C” License.

• US Soccer Federation National “B” License

• United Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Diploma

•  Delaware DOE Continuing License in Social Studies (grades 6-12)

• Delaware DOE Standard Certificate in Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Grades K-12)

• Saint Elizabeth HS Head Soccer Coach (2001-2015)

• Delaware Rush Trainer (2011-2016)

  • 2014 U14 Boys Region 1 Finalist

• Brandywine HS Assistant Soccer Coach (2017-present)

  • 2017 Delaware High School Women’s Assistant State Soccer Coach of the Year

  • 2018, 2020 Delaware High School Men’s Assistant State Soccer Coach of the Year.

  • 2022 Brandywine High School Teacher of the Year
